On inauguration weekend, comedians across the country will take the stage for the What A Joke Comedy Festival. This unique, nationwide festival is taking place simultaneously in 28 US cities - plus Oxford, England. Proceeds from the shows will go to benefit the American Civil Liberties Union. Because the ACLU is going to have a lot of work to do over the next four years.
You can’t throw a nationwide protest and not have Madison involved. What A Joke - Madison will take place on Friday, January 20th at the Majestic Theatre. Headlining the Madison native Nate Craig, who has appeared on Last Comic Standing, Funny or Die, Comedy Central, and MTV’s Ridiculousness.
Nate Craig will be joined by Reena Calm, one of the fastest rising comedians out of Chicago who is regularly touring across the country. In addition, we’ll also see performances by three local comic talents - Esteban Touma, Cynthia Marie and Anthony Siraguse.
Ticket sales begin on Friday, December 16th. Advance tickets are $16.00, as in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, where every president from John Adams to Barack Obama has lived. But that’s only because those suckers weren’t wealthy enough to afford an eponymous tower in NYC. Day of show tickets are $18.00, as in 1800, the year of another contentious election. However, in 1800, the person who won was the writer of the Declaration of Independence, not a reality tv star.
